I am deeply honored to receive the Margaret Mann Citation. To be included in a distinguished group that includes figures such as S. R. Ranganathan, Seymour Lubetzky, Henriette D. Avram, Lois Mai Chan, and Sanford Berman is both humbling and deeply meaningful, as their work has fundamentally shaped how we understand, teach, and practice information organization, which remains at the core of the library and information science profession. I am especially grateful to follow Arlene G. Taylor, who received this award thirty years ago. She has been not only a towering influence on the field, but also my mentor, collaborator, and friend, and her impact on my own work has been profound. My own work has been grounded in the teaching of cataloging and in preparing students to think critically about information organization and its representation. I am grateful to contribute to the ongoing work of this community. I am sincerely grateful for this honor.
