Mayank Trivedi


Dr. Mayank Trivedi was born on May 10th 1965 in Navsari, Gujarat, India. Dr. Mayank Trivedi is presently the University Librarian (Professor Grade) and a Senate Member at Smt. Hansa Mehta Library, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara. Before this, he was a University Librarian & Publication Officer at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar where he becomes instrumental for renovating infrastructure and improving Information services of the Library and designed the web portal of Bhaikaka Library, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Sardar Patel University.

As a University Librarian of the MSU, Dr. Trivedi contributed immensely to its overall development. The H M Library was ranked among the top 20 libraries across India (INFLIBNET 2013). Smt. Hansa Mehta Library was ranked among the top ten best libraries across the nation in India Today - Nielson Survey (2016). He has initiated the development of the Open Knowledge Gateway (OKG) and IR @ MSU He also contributes to various other activities in MSU through the following affiliations:

·      Early Life and Education:

 

Dr. Trivedi had his early education in Dhrangadhra, Gujarat. He obtained his BSc. (Hons.) Degree in Chemistry in 1985 followed by certificate in Library Science (1987), Diploma in Computer Science (1988), Bachelor of Library & Information Science (1993) and Masters of Library & Information Science (1994) from the Saurashtra University of Gujarat.

Dr. Trivedi was awarded PhD in 2005 from Hemchandracharya North University, Patan,Gujarat for his research titled “Resources and Services in Health Science Libraries of Gujarat” with exposure to a several-advanced training program on the application of IT to Library Management.

 

 

·      Career :

He has been actively involved in leveraging e-learning, content creation, open education resources (OER) and online lectures such as Omkar-e.

He has been managing the Vadodara centre of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad for the last more than five years.

His current research interests include Digital Libraries, Open Educational Resources, Web based Learning and Education, Health Informatics, Web 2.0, Knowledge Management, Virtual Library, Re-engineering of Libraries, and Open Access Publishing.

Dr. Trivedi has so far served the Library Professions for more than 3 decades. He began his career as an Information Scientist at the R & D Library of Cadila laboratory Ltd., Ahmedabad where he worked from 1986 to 1991.

After this, he joined the M.P. Shah Government Medical College as Assistant Librarian. In 1991, he was deputed at Government Dental College, Jamnagar where he was instrumental in establishing a new library as per the norms prescribed by Dental Council of India.

Again in 1997, he was transferred to M.P. Shah Medical College, Jamnagar. In 2001, He has joined C. U. Shah Medical College, Surendranagar, Gujarat as Librarian where he has established a new Medical Library from grassroot level as per the Medical Council of India norms. He has developed various sections of Library like Reference Library, Reprography Unit, Help Informatics through indexMedicus Medlars, Photocopy Unit, Media Information Literacy. Coordination with various Department of Medical College like Anatomy, Pharmacology, Medicine, Surgery etc.

- Also developed departmental Library in all these departments of medical college.

- Coordination with the National Medical Library, New Delhi

- Recognized PhD guide at many Universities of India, 14 students conferred and 6 researchers pursuing PhD.

 - Associated with BAOU in PAC for implementing BLISc/MLISc/PhD programs. Teaching, co-ordination, examination Assessment and all academic work, Coordinator, Vadodara Centre.

- Given no. of lectures, taken viva-voce of PhD students at various places, worked as Resource Person in various Orientation/Refresher Course.

- Working as a paper setter, examiner, and editor, referee, reviewer, resource person, expert @ DGET and many Universities/Journals.

- Organized many National/State level seminar/conferences/workshop and training programmes.

- Free-lance Translator, Mendeley Advisor, Editor (DOAJ).
