Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals or simply the Librarians Directory is a list of librarians and library professionals. It is a free international Who's Who of Library and Information Science and Services listing professionals working in libraries, information centers, and other similar institutions. The Librarians Directory is an ambitious project to bring information about librarians and library professionals worldwide to one place which can be viewed and searched online.
It is to be noted that this directory is currently under development. Its idea is envisioned based on the crowdsourcing model where the librarians and other library professionals will send us their information to be included in the directory. We will add entries in this directory as we receive information from them.
Anyone whose work is related to libraries, information centers, and other similar institutions is in scope to be added to this directory. For example, if you are not a librarian but a vendor who supplies books, journals, databases, automation services, etc. to libraries, then you can also be included in this online directory. Library and Information Science students who are currently studying, LIS professionals who are not currently employed or are retired, and teachers are also included in the directory.

INTRODUCTORY VIDEO
BACKGROUND
We wished to give the readers of the Librarianship Studies & Information Technology blog a searchable list of librarians and library professionals that contains information about LIS professionals worldwide. This led to the creation of the Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals.
AIMS & PURPOSE
The Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals satisfies various important purposes, some are given below:
- This list of librarians may help employers (e.g., libraries, information centers, etc.) in their search for LIS professionals who can be recruited in their library.
- This directory may be helpful to the LIS professionals and students in their job search. For example, if you have applied for a job in some library, you may search the library's name and librarians working there in the directory. Then you may contact the current employees of the library through their email addresses to get information that may be helpful for you in getting the job.
- The directory may be helpful for new students of Library and Information Science to connect with LIS professionals from their Library School or University. For instance, if I am going to study MLIS at the University College London, then with the help of this directory I can find out other people who have previously studied in the same university, and connect with them.
HOW TO USE THIS DIRECTORY: ARRANGEMENT OF ENTRIES
The directory is arranged alphabetically first by country, then by state, by city, followed by the name, gender, e-mail, position/designation, and name of Institution, organization, etc. of the LIS professional.
HOW TO ENTER YOUR INFORMATION IN THE DIRECTORY
Please provide us the following information through the data entry form given below to get an entry in the directory. It is important to note that we are not including phone numbers, addresses, and other information in the directory due to privacy concerns.
Enter your details in English only. Please don't use abbreviations or acronyms while providing names of state, city, university, institution, etc.; give full names only in the Online Form. Also don't prefix Dr., Prof., etc. with your name as the names are arranged in an alphabetical sequence.
1. Name of Country - e.g., United States
2. Name of State/Province/Region, etc. - e.g., California.
3. Name of City - e.g., San Jose
4. Name - e.g., Carla Hayden (born August 10, 1952). Optionally, please also provide your Date of Birth along with your name. This will help employers in ascertaining whether they should contact you for their library job.
5. Gender - select from the options: Male or Female or Other or "I prefer not to say"
6. Email - you may give either your personal email or official email or both, but personal email is preferable as you may change your job in the future so your official email will not work then.
7. Position/Designation - e.g., Librarian, Student, Professor, Library Science Blogger, Library Services Vendor, Library Supplier, etc.
8. Name of the Institution, Organization, etc. (Work) - e.g., San Jose State University or Librarianship Studies & Information Technology blog. Give the name of the institution, organization, etc. where you work.
9. Name of the Library, etc. (Work) - e.g., Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library.
10. Name of the Department, School, etc. (Work) - e.g., Cataloging Division, or, School of Information Sciences.
11. Education (Library and Information Science) - Please provide your Name of Degree, Name of University, Institute, etc., followed by the Name of Country and year of completion. See the below example.
- Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from San Jose State University, School of Information Sciences, United States in 2002.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, School of Information Sciences, United States in 2012.
- Certificate in Library Leadership from Library Juice Academy (online) in 2015.
12. Feedback, Suggestions, Comments - Help us improve the Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals. Kindly provide us your feedback, suggestions, or comments. This field is optional but we would love to know your opinion about this directory.

- Once you have sent your information to us to be included in the directory through the form, the first thing you should do is check the accuracy of your information provided in the spreadsheet below given under the "Responses Received" heading. Refresh your browser if your information has not appeared in the spreadsheet. Now if any revision is required then you can email us at librarianship.studies@gmail.com. It is to be noted that it may take a month to get your entry published in the directory, but your information will be visible instantly in the spreadsheet given below. We will email you when your entry is created or updated in the directory.
- If someone wants to get their entry removed from the directory, they can let us know on our email and we will remove their entry from the directory.

QUALITY CONTROL AND UPDATES
The directory is revised from time to time to present the most up-to-date information. Whenever some LIS professional sends their information, we will enter their information in the directory. They may also send us information later to revise/update their information in the directory to our email at librarianship.studies@gmail.com.
THE FUTURE
We plan to allow more information to the directory entries in the future. Later, we also plan to offer the LIS professionals an opportunity to have an individual page in the Librarianship Studies & Information Technology blog which they could develop as their online resumes. This will help the employers in connecting with you and offer you a job in their library. Then we will enter the link of your online resume in our blog in your directory entry.

Answer: All librarians and information professionals may use information from the Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals with proper attribution and citation. I would appreciate it if you would let us know too!
Question: How the Librarians Directory may help me in my career and professional development?
Answer: The Online Directory of Librarians and Library and Information Science and Services Professionals serves some important benefits, some are given below:
- This list of librarians may help employers (e.g., libraries, information centers, etc.) in their search for LIS professionals who can be recruited in their library.
- This directory may be helpful to the LIS professionals and students in their job search. For example, if you have applied for a job in some library, you may search the library's name and librarians working there in the directory. Then you may contact the current employees of the library through their email addresses to get information that may be helpful for you in getting the job.
- The directory may be helpful for new students of Library and Information Science to connect with LIS professionals from their Library School or University. For instance, if I am going to study MLIS at the University College London, then with the help of this directory I can find out other people who have previously studied in the same university, and connect with them.
Question: Who can get an entry in the Librarians Directory?
Answer: Anyone whose work is related to libraries, information centers, and other similar institutions is in scope to be added to this directory. For example, if you are not a librarian but a vendor who supplies books, journals, databases, automation services, etc. to libraries, then you can also be included in this online directory. Library and Information Science students who are currently studying, LIS professionals who are not currently employed or are retired, and teachers are also included in the directory.
Question: How the data collection is done in the Librarians Directory?
Answer: The Librarians Directory is envisioned based on the crowdsourcing model where the librarians and other library professionals will send us their information to be included in the directory.
Question: Can I enter my details in my native language in the Librarians Directory?
Answer: No, please enter your details in English only.
Question: How can I make revisions or changes to my entry in the Librarians Directory?
Answer: If any revision is required then you can email us at librarianship.studies@gmail.com. We will email you when your entry is updated in the directory with the revised information.
Question: How can I get my information removed from the Librarians Directory?
Answer: If someone wants to get their entry removed from the directory, they can let us know on our email librarianship.studies@gmail.com, and we will then remove their entry from the directory.
Question: I wish to enter more details in my entry, such as the description of my previous jobs, how can I do this?
Answer: At present, you can provide your details in the selected prescribed fields only. But, we plan to allow more information to the directory entries in the future. Later, we also plan to offer the LIS professionals an opportunity to have an individual page in the Librarianship Studies & Information Technology blog which they could develop as their online resumes.
